Alternative Transportation Manager (Military Move)
HomeSafe Alliance is the single global household goods movement manager of over 300,000 Military Household Goods moves per year for USTRANSCOM and the U.S. Armed Forces, Department of Defense civilians, U.S. Coast Guard, and their families.
HomeSafe Alliance is seeking highly skilled and motivated Alternative Transportation Manager to lead the domestic logistics team in all operational disciplines, implement a cost-effective procurement strategy, ensure operational excellence, high productivity, and customer satisfaction. This role will oversee all Service Provider activities, monitor call hold times, perform quality assurance reviews and work with interdepartmental staff to confirm that all booking and dispatch operations consistently meet company standards.
Responsibilities:
+ Fully understands all financial details associated with a military shipment from revenue billed to how distribution of compensation is made to each service provider.
+ Knows the freight marketplace well which enables a strong ability to keenly select the most effective carrier option from the marketplace that will lead to a successful shipment both operationally as well as financially. Is very good at training others in this skill.
+ Continuously reviews internal methods, processes, and technologies or creates new ones that lead to better operational and financial performance from the department.
+ Lead departmental training and convey the expectations of performance associated with each departmental position along with closely observing that expectations are at a minimum met and preferably exceeded.
+ Ability to optimize modes of transport for best shipping methods including Crate & Freight and No-Touch.
+ Investigate, plan, and implement transport methods that are strategically effective and relevant which meet the needs of HomeSafe Alliance, Service Providers, USTRANSCOM, Service Members and DoD Civilian customers.
+ Assist in the creation and maintenance of a departmental staffing plan that is in sync with performance requirements. Provide routine feedback to the V.P. on how changes in operational rhythm may require staffing revisions.
+ Assist in promoting an attitude within the department of being a service to the other company departments and ensure there always exists robust channels of communication with all departments.
+ Serve as a problem solver with the ability to understand drivers, agents, and customer issues to make decisions and relay direction and/or instructions as needed.
+ All other administrative duties as needed.
Qualification and Skill Requirement:
+ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
+ Undergraduate degree preferred with strong leadership skills.
+ 2 years directly related dispatch experience preferred in the military relocation of household goods.
+ Direct Supervisor or management experience.
+ Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements
+ High level of attention to detail.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Prior HHG military move management experience highly preferred.
