ReVision Energy is seeking a Director of Utility & Regulatory Affairs to join our growing Public Policy team. The ideal candidate must be located in ME, NH, or MA in order to best serve the communities where we live and work.  

 

Joining our new Public Policy team and reporting to the Director of Policy and Government Affairs, the Director of Utility & Regulatory Affairs will serve as a technical expert and lead the company’s utility and regulatory work across all three jurisdictions, building effective relationships with utility partners and regulators to advance our clean energy work. This is a new position as we seek to deepen our engagement in regulatory processes and participation in forward-looking policy working groups. The Director’s engagement will primarily focus on two critical areas for the clean energy transition, project interconnection and grid modernization and planning, however this role will work with all teams at ReVision Energy, including our residential, commercial, EV, and energy storage teams, to identify opportunities for proactive engagement and advocacy, and to respond to regulatory and utility related issues that could impede our clean energy work. As such, it provides a unique and exciting opportunity to accelerate the transition to clean energy in New England by developing systems, processes and relationships for effective regulatory and utility engagement, and becoming a skilled subject matter expert in all aspects of interconnection, grid modernization and the role of a utility in a 21st century clean electric future.  

 

Responsibilities:  

Lead ReVision Energy’s regulatory engagement across MA, ME, and NH, and develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with key staff and leadership at all relevant agencies 
Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with senior leadership at electric utilities across MA, ME, and NH, and serve as ReVision Energy’s primary point of contact with utility leaders 
Support and mentor commercial and residential project development staff and ReVision Energy customers by providing advanced-level support for projects that face significant interconnection obstacles and/or require formal dispute resolution with utilities 
Function as the internal subject matter expert on interconnection and utility affairs, supporting all internal teams as necessary and serving as the company’s representative on related policy working groups as needed 
Track and interpret regulatory and/or legislative changes related to the interconnection and grid modernization landscape, including relevant state agency policy or program implementation and PUC dockets in MA, ME, and NH, participating as appropriate to represent the interests of ReVision Energy and our customers 
Track and interpret relevant federal policy including federal infrastructure funding opportunities for grid modernization  
As part of Public Policy team, develop forward-looking interconnection and grid modernization strategies in the state legislative and regulatory domains with industry, environmental, and utility stakeholders 
Assist ReVision Energy’s leadership in educating key stakeholders and the public about barriers to DER interconnection and the necessity of grid modernization and reform 
Serve as a member of ReVision’s Policy Committee and as an active counterpart to the Director, Policy & Government Affairs, supporting work regarding legislative affairs and strategic communications 
Travel regularly to MA, ME, and NH to engage in person with ReVision Energy teams, utilities, regulators, and agency staff to advance the company’s priorities 

Requirements:
Proven track record of effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines and leadership in management of internal teams 
Experience working in the regulatory arena, including reading and interpreting technical/regulatory documents and participating in PUC dockets 
Advanced understanding of interconnection processes, technical/regulatory standards, and/or negotiation 
Creative, solutions-oriented problem-solver with an eye toward long-term strategy 
Accountable, highly independent, ability to be self-directed 
Holds high expectations of the quality of their own work product 
Ability to multi-task, manage projects, prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently 
Strong communication skills, written and verbal, facilitation experience preferred 
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in the energy sector, ideally seeking candidates with 5-10 years of professional experience 
3 years of direct experience working with or for utilities or regulatory entities preferred 
Bachelors degree required, legal or engineering advanced degree preferred
