Your Opportunity
As a GIS Intern within the Environmental Business Operating Unit at Stantec Consulting Services Inc., you will be tasked with utilizing geographic information system (GIS) technology to support various projects and initiatives. Your role will involve but not limited to, processing field collected data, and mapping to aid in environmental or engineering tasks. You will work under the guidance of Kurt Howard, GIS Manager, who will provide mentorship and ensure you gain practical experience. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and apply them in real-world scenarios.
Your Key Responsibilities
+ Create online map products for field use
+ Process and analyze GIS data collected from field surveys
+ Create and update digital maps using GIS software
+ Collaborate with team members to support various GIS-related tasks
+ Conduct research and gather spatial data from various sources
+ Potential opportunities to participate in field work
+ Other duties as assigned to help develop additional technical skills
Qualifications
Your Capabilities
The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for learning about environmental consulting, is willing to take on new challenging tasks, and would like to work with diverse team of professionals from different environmental backgrounds. Specific experience and qualifications in the following areas are also required:
+ Strong working knowledge of ESRI (or equivalent) software and extensions (AGOL, Survey123, etc).
+ Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.
+ Reliable transportation
Education and Experience
+ Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences program
+ Two years of college education in environmental sciences and within approximately 1-2 years of graduation.
