Your Opportunity
Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for an entry-level Structural Engineer in Maine!
We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for transportation projects of varying scale and complexity. We are looking for Structural Engineers who have a positive attitude, are fast learners, and enjoy working in a team environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
– Use Microstation/InRoads & ORD design software daily to support the design development process
– Assist with the design of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and sign structures incorporating agency practices and AASHTO LRFD standards.
– Prepare design calculations and quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates.
– Assist with the completion of bridge construction plans and specifications.
– Perform project research and analyze/present data in tabular or graphic format.
– Contribute to engineering reports and technical studies.
– Conduct field visits during the design development process.
– Attend client, agency and public meetings to see the different phases of a project first-hand.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
– Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
– Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
– Some working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
– Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues.
– Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
– Microstation experience is a plus.
– Experience with structural design is a plus.
